etting more spin with your wedges requires a combination of proper technique, equipment, and understanding the factors that influence spin. Here are some tips to help you generate more spin with your wedges:

 1. Clean your grooves: Ensure that the grooves on your wedge are clean and free from dirt, grass, water or debris. Clean, dry grooves provide more friction with the ball, leading to more spin.

 2. Choose the right wedge: Wedges with sharper and newer grooves will generate more spin. As wedgeswear out over time, they lose their ability to produce spin effectively.

 3. Play the right golf ball: Use a high-quality golf ballthat promotes spin. Multi-layered tour-level golf balls are designed to createmore spin on “less than full” shots.

 4. Ball position: Place the ball slightly forward in your stance, closer to your leadfoot. This position allows for better ball contact, increasing spin potential.

 5. Swing speed and acceleration:  Generate more clubhead speed and acceleratethrough the ball during impact. A swing with controlled acceleration, ratherthan deceleration, through impact will create more spin.

 6. Angle of attack: For higher spin, aim to have a slightlysteeper angle of attack.  This will helpyou compress the ball more effectively.

 7. Ball compression: At impact, focus on compressing thegolf ball between the clubface and the ground. This compression generates spinas the ball spins up the clubface.

 8. Use lofted wedges: Higher lofted wedges (e.g., 56°, 58°, 60°) tend to produce more spinthan lower lofted ones.

 9. Grip pressure: Maintain a consistent but not overly tight grip on the club. A balancedgrip allows for better clubface control and spin generation.

 10. Finish your swing: Follow through with a full, balanced finish after striking the ball. A complete swing helps impart maximum spin on the ball.

Improving your spin control takes practice. Spend time on Trackman focusing on your wedge shots, experimenting with different techniques and club selections and monitoring the different spin rates. Practice and experimentation will help you find the right balance for your game and most importantly – get the right balance between maximising spin and good control.

Fitting
Is there a benefit to switching to an oversized grip?
Oversize grips, once thought suitable only for those with large hands or arthritis, are now recognised as beneficial for various golfers, offering advantages such as increased grip surface area, reduced hand pressure, improved shock absorption, and enhanced alignment. These grips can promote a smoother swing, better shot consistency, and improved accuracy, although they may not suit all players, necessitating individual experimentation to find the best fit for one's swing characteristics and preferences.

What is Dynamic Loft, and How Can We Optimise It?
Dynamic loft in golf, determined by factors like swing technique and angle of attack, should ideally be around 70% of the club's static loft, adjusted based on swing speed and desired ball flight, crucial for shot trajectory and distance, but should be considered alongside spin rates, with adjustments possible through angle of attack and hand position, best analysed with guidance from PGA Professionals.

What Exactly Is Gear Effect?
Gear effect in golf involves the influence of a ball's flight path by the location of impact on the clubface, where off-center hits cause the clubhead to twist, resulting in spin that affects shot accuracy and distance, highlighting the importance of understanding and minimizing its impact, especially with faster clubhead speeds, as it can lead to unexpected ball flights regardless of club type.
